The unique sound of vocalist Debra James Tucker is a product of extensive training in jazz, classical and gospel music. The style flowing from the wild timbre of her big range is entirely her own thing. Debra has appeared in the Theatre des Westens production of Porgy and Bess in Berlin, Germany and sung back up vocals with Michael Bolton. She has appeared with Opera Columbus in its commissioned opera Vanqui and at the acclaimed Quasimodo jazz club in Berlin. She has appeared with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and with countless jazz artists, including Kidd Jordan, James Carter, David Ornette Cherry, DD. Jackson, Gene Walker and Bobby Floyd.

Debra has acted in touring productions of Aint't Misbehavin and Womyn With Wings. She has performed as narrator in "The Colored Section" by Gamal Brown an Onyx Productions project.
A graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, Debra is committed to using law and art to effect social change. She dedicates herself to working with young artists and has been artist in residence with Short Stop Youth Center, Days of Creation-Arts for Kids, the Arts and College Preparatory Academy, and Transit Arts. Debra is the writer/performer of Survival of the Boulevard Singer-- winner of the Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence. She has been visiting Professor in music history at Denison University and a faith organizer for Equality Ohio. She is the host and coordinator of the the Gospel Soul Brunch series at Natalie's in Worthington Ohio.
